Day One of the New Year

workoutI did it! I know it’s day one and it should probably be the easiest, but I had a very hard time getting motivated to work out today. Still, I didn’t want to let myself down, so I sucked it up. I rowed for 30 minutes and did a few strength exercises. I’m starting to get sick, so I’m losing motivation quickly. Isn’t getting sick the worst? It’s so easy to get derailed, but I’m determined to stay strong. I just took a shot of DayQuil- time to power through!

I also went to visit some awesome friends today and that recharged me. It’s amazing how much stuff like spending time with friends can get pushed aside for the “to-do list”, when it’s what we really need to be happy!

happyherbivoreI know that I will need help sticking to a good food plan, so I decided to do something I’ve been considering for a long time. I bought the annual Happy Herbivore membership! Lindsay puts together weekly menus of vegan, oil free food (she has options for soy, gluten, and nut free too!). She gives you a shopping list and a plan for how to make most of the week’s food in one shot. It takes about three hours. I’ve only purchased individual weeks before, but today she had a big sale and I just knew I had to go for it. The part that’s the best for me is having the food already made. If I have a snack ready, I can eat that when I get home from work instead of reaching for chips or cookies. The first time I shopped for one of her meal plans, the cashier commented that I had the healthiest groceries she had ever seen. It’s mostly vegetables and fruit, so that makes me feel really good. I’ll let you all know how it goes! I won’t start until this weekend because I’ll need to make a big shopping trip.

Happy New Year! Anyone have any big plans?

Jillian
