subtitle: why I need to lose 50 pounds
It is really hard to post these pictures on the internet, but it’s important to illustrate why I want to lose weight so badly. My weight creeped up slowly as I started to wait tables less, then ballooned when I stopped working out and paying less attention to what I ate. I have tried so many diets before, but the only thing that ever truly worked was working with a personal trainer and tracking every calorie I ate. I have attempted to find ways to make it easier, but it just isn’t happening. I need to go back to what worked.
It feels really cheesy to start January 1st, but it’s tomorrow and I have the day off. I can’t wait one more day! I need to start now and get it over with. For me, accountability is key, so I will record everything. Here is the link to my sparkpeople account– anyone that is interested can view what I eat and what exercise I do! Even better, you can join too and we can help keep each other accountable. My basic plan is to stay within 1200-1500 calories per day (1500 on harder work out days or days that are just tough), and to start with four work outs a week. I got a deal on personal training sessions at the Diva Den, so I have three of those to get me started. I want to use those to jump start some motivation, and am hoping to incorporate some HIIT work outs.
I preordered “HIIT It“, a new book by the Fitnessista, and it finally shipped today. Gina lost about the same amount of weight that I want to, and has kept it off for 10 years. I’ve tried a few things from her blog, so I’m super excited for her book to arrive. After I read it, my plan could change.
I plan to slowly start running again, and I have a rowing machine at home for low impact cardio. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I need HELP!!

Following your journey, feel free to follow mine.
I have 60-70 lbs to lose…I start tomorrow with my weighin. workouts and eating healthier. Ideally Id love to lose it in 5 months. But my ultimate goal is July since I have a family beach trip scheduled for then 🙂

I totally will! I would love as short as possible. I just used the calculator on sparkpeople for how long it would take to lose 51 pounds at two pounds a week and it gave me June 29th. Im guessing even that will be hard to stick to on average.

first of all, I know that often times this may be how you feel but those pictures are both very extreme. No one looks good in those dresses and jordan even said that he thinks you look better than second one so that is why I would like to focus this journey on you being healthy and having the ability to live your life freely with high activity and intensity. I know that you have never been lazy and that a large part your decrease in exercise is due to injury. Looks like it’s time to find a new way to stay healthy and fit! I’m excited to be beside you and help you reach your goals!

It’s going… 🙂 Today has been rough, but I know I will do better with prep this weekend. I use sparkpeople and I feel lazy about switching, but maybe I will do it. Do they have an app? Having the app on my phone is key.

I used Sparkpeople in ’06-’08 and it totally changed my life! I lost 25 pounds and get in fabulous shape (for the first time ever!) but since then, I gained it all back. I am beyond ready to lost it. I’ll look for you on SP! 😀 We can do this!

Good for your for starting this journey (although I think you look great in both pictures)! I am working on dropping 30-35 lbs. that I have put on since I quit smoking a few years ago. I try to stay within Weight Watcher points 5 days per week and allow for a few “cheats” on the weekends. I work out 5-6 days per week- it’s not the exercise part that’s hard for me, it’s the food part!

Aww, thanks. I got some feedback from friends that both pictures are too extreme and that I need to calm down. It’s awesome that you’re so good at exercise! I used to be, but I have been putting all of my time into my new puppy. I want to be good at exercise again! I do think food is more the key to weight loss, but exercise just makes you feel good.
